Introduction 

This page contains a guide to help you understand the format of the unit test as well as some key skills, topics, and concepts that may be referenced in the unit test Please note that this is not a complete list.  For the specific details of what you need to know and be able to do, you should ALWAYS review the success criteria found in each lesson.  You are also encouraged to check out the How to Prepare for Tests and Exams Guide in the Student Resources block of the LMS.

 

Unit Test Study Guide & Test Outline

  

Each individual question on this test covers one of the four KICA Achievement categories (identified beside each question as K, I, C, A).

      • Knowledge questions require you to know and understand key scientific concepts, terms, and definitions from the course. 
      • Communication questions assess your ability to explain scientific concepts and processes in your own words. This might include explaining an experiment, describing a scientific theory, or outlining a method. Clear and accurate use of scientific terminology and format is essential when presenting your work.
      • Application questions ask you to apply the scientific concepts and methods you have learned to new scenarios or experiments. You are expected to demonstrate your understanding by showing your work, including any calculations or reasoning, to support your answer.
      • Inquiry questions involve applying your problem-solving skills to scientific investigations. You must identify the appropriate concepts and methods needed to approach and solve a problem.

      • Multiple Choice (4-6 questions)
      • Short Answer (17-19 questions)
