Activity Topic:  Hydrocarbons

 Step 1: Topic

Write your topic in the center of a sheet of paper and circle it. Example topic: Reptiles

Step 2: Level 1 Connections

Write ideas and words around your topic. Think of as many connections as you can. (At least 5-10 connections)

Step 3: Level 2 Connections

Add connections to your first connections. Add two connections to each of the first ones like the picture.

Step 4: Choose ideas

Examine your brainstorm and think about a questions you might be interested in writing about. Circle the connections that made you think about the question. 

(You now have a guiding question and key words for your research)
