Placemats   Groups of Four  
Prompt: What are some of the organizing principles for the way that elements are organized on the periodic table?  Why is it important to organize elements in this way?

 Step 1: Prepare

Organize into groups of 3 or 4. 

On a blank sheet of paper create an organizer like the picture here.

Each person gets a space.

Step 2: Write

Write your own response to the prompt in the space in front of you.

Step 3: Consensus

Discuss your thoughts with the group and come to an agreement on all points that the group believes to be correct.

Compile the agreed upon, correct responses in the center of the placemat.
