SCH4U - Chemistry 12 (2024-25) - A

This lesson comprises a research assignment in which you will be tasked with researching the negative environmental impact of the human use of plastic bags and asks you to propose a course of action in which we can reduce those potential negative effects.

Learning Goals:

• Assess the impact on human health, society and the environment of organic compounds used in everyday life (plastic bags)
• Propose a course of action to reduce the harmful effects of plastic bags on human health and the environment.
• Identify careers related to chemistry where one can make a positive impact on society and the environment.

Success Criteria:

I know I have achieved the goals for this lesson when I can describe the impact of plastic bag use on human health, the environment and can propose a method in which the impact of plastic bags can be reduced. I will also be able to describe careers in which knowledge of chemistry can be used to limit the negative impact of plastic bags.
