Description
Welcome to lesson 1-1: Atomic Structure. Atoms are the building blocks of all matter. Our understanding of how individual atoms are structured has evolved tremendously over time and helps to explain the properties and interactions of all matter in our universe (and beyond). In this lesson you will learn about some of the important experiments that led to our current understanding of how atoms are structured.
Learning goals:
By the end of this lesson you will:
-
-
- Understand how experimental evidence led to the evolution of the atomic model
- Understand the structure and organization of atomic nuclei and orbitals according to the Rutherford and Bohr models
-
Success Criteria:
I know I have achieved the learning goals when I can describe the structure of the atom and the experiments that led to our understanding of this structure.
